Creating viable solutions for bulk transportation
M.V “Meenachil” built in 2001 by Master Shipyard Private Limited (“MSPL”), a subsidiary of LOTS Shipping Limited, commenced its foray into Inland Water Transport. Over the last 20 years, LOTS has contributed immensely to reduction of traffic congestion, pollution and air quality in the crowded city of Kochi in the State of Kerala, India. With inland water transport using barges, several million tons of cargo that would otherwise be transported by road has been moved quietly and swiftly, with considerable reduction in road traffic congestion and causing the least impact on the environment.
The company owns and operates eight barges carrying a variety of cargoes ranging from Rock Phosphate, Sulfur, Phosphoric Acid, Furnace Oil and many such bulk commodities.
The first double ended RoRo ferry in India capable of carrying twenty trailers of 20’ each has been operating in Cochin Port for the last five and a half years. During this time it has taken 300,000 trailers offthe busy and crowded streets of Kochi, contributing immensely to its environmental well-being. LOTS Shipping Limited has a 10-year contract from Cochin Port Trust to operate this ferry.
LOTS’ ability to handle diverse and difficult cargo like sulfur, rock phosphate, heavy machinery (ship engines and generators), coal, zinc concentrate, cement, iron ore, MOP, soy meal, furnace oil, phosphoric acid and the like, makes it a reliable, cost-efficient inland and coastal transport solution provider. We complement this edge by providing breakthrough solutions in project logistics.
